Co-Development by Sunrock Games

What is game co-development?

Game co-development is a production model in which an external studio works inside the client's project as part of the same team. The co-development partner follows the client's engine, tools, coding standards and sprint cadence, while the client keeps creative direction and ownership of the game.

How our embedded teams work

Sunrock Games developers join the client's repositories, task tracker and communication channels. They attend the client's stand-ups and reviews, deliver work through the client's pipeline and report to the client's producers. Team size can change between sprints as production needs change.

FAQ

Co-Development — questions we get most.

What is the difference between co-development and outsourcing?

+

In outsourcing, an external team usually delivers a defined package of work. In co-development, the external team works inside the client's project and pipeline as part of the same production team.

Can Sunrock Games join a project that is already in production?

+

Yes. Sunrock Games can join a game at any stage of production, from prototype to post-launch.

Who owns the work produced during co-development?

+

The client. All work is delivered as work-for-hire, and IP, source code and assets transfer to the client.

Can you sign an NDA before we share details?

+

Yes. We sign your NDA before any discovery call and can operate under mutual, one-way or perpetual agreements.

How quickly can a team start?

+

Most engagements start within 2–3 weeks. Urgent ramp-ups can begin in under 7 days with a senior lead on day one.

Do you integrate into our tools and pipelines?

+

Yes. We work inside your Perforce, Jira, Slack, Confluence, Jenkins and internal engines from day one.

How do you handle IP ownership?

+

All work is delivered as work-for-hire. IP, source and assets transfer to you on payment, with clean chain of title.
